Guidelines for Purchasing a Guitar
An acoustic guitar is required for all classes. Recommended guitars include Yamaha, Epiphone, or Takamine steel string. The standard issue Yamaha c40 is an appropriate classical guitar.
Also purchase picks, an extra set of strings matching your guitar, and if possible, a hard shell case.
Mr. Cunningham began the guitar program in 2002 while serving as Associate Director of Bands (1999–2006). The guitar program has since grown to 170 guitar students and is widely considered one of the finest guitar programs in the county, region, and nation. The Herndon Guitar Ensembles have earned “Superior” ratings exclusively at adjudications and competitions as well as numerous first place trophies.
