The Guitar Boosters Dinner scheduled for Wednesday, February 3, at
Herndon United Methodist Church, has been cancelled. We will try to reschedule the dinner for another date, to be announced.
New Deadline for Spring Trip Payments and Forms
Due to the snow day on Feb. 3, the deadline to turn in your final payment and all forms has been extended to Thursday, February 4, by 2:30 p.m. Final payment and all five completed forms must be received by this time in order to get the $20 discount.
Payments and forms may be turned in to either the black mailbox on Mr. Cunningham's door (DO NOT GIVE TO SUBS!), OR delivered to Jeanne Loveland at 11588 Greenwich Point Rd., Reston (black box on front porch).
Please make sure you turn in all five forms. All forms are available on the Spring Trip page:

Mid-Atlantic Guitar Festival
Saturday, March 13
7:30 a.m. – approx. 6:00 p.m.
West Potomac High School, Alexandria VA
Guitar 3 and Guitar 4 will be competing at the Mid Atlantic Guitar Festival on March 13 at West Potomac HS. This year we are all traveling by school bus to and from the festival together.
All guitar students must report to Herndon HS by 7:30 a.m.

Guitar 3 performs at 10:15 with a warm-up at 9:30

Guitar 4 performs at 3:25 with a warm-up at 2:35
After Guitar 4 performs, we'll board the bus to come home. Estimated return to HHS is 6:00 p.m. School will not be unlocked when we return.
There will be workshops and a lunch-time performance as well as other schools performing during the day. You will need to bring your lunch. Lunch may be available for purchase at the school, we will confirm that.
Chaperones Needed
We will need 5–6 chaperones for this trip since it is a field trip. If you are interested in chaperoning, please e-mail herndonguitarboosters@gmail.com.
IMPORTANT: SATs are also scheduled for this day. If you/your student is scheduled to take the SAT on March 13, please e-mail Mr. Cunningham immediately so he can assess the attendance for each group.
Field trip forms will come home closer to the event.

Due to shortfalls in the 2010-2011 budget, Fairfax County Public Schools is considering the elimination of band and orchestra programs in the elementary schools. Your help is needed to keep music in our schools.

Entertainment Book Sale Results
The Entertainment Book sale raised over $2,600, half of which goes to the students and half to the Guitar Boosters. Our top seller was Walter Little, Guitar 2, with 10 books. Way to go, Walter!

Herndon Guitar Night at Lucia's
Guitar students provided musical entertainment at the Herndon Guitar Night fundraiser at Lucia's Italian Ristorante (Towncenter Plaza, Sterling) on October 21. Lucia's donated 15% of the evening's proceeds to the Herndon Guitar Boosters.

Guitar 4 to Support ANG Fundraising
Guitar 4 students will perform at the All Night Grad fundraising dinner that will be held at Herndon United Methodist Church (across Bennett Street from the school) on Wednesday, November 4. More info to come ... plan to be there, and bring the whole family!
Guitar 3's School Board Performance
On Thursday, June 11, the Guitar 3 juniors and sophomores performed the Star Spangled Banner at the start of the monthly meeting of the Fairfax County School Board. The performance was broadcast on Channel 21 (FCPS Red Apple 21). This performance was an exciting opportunity to remind the FCPS School Board and the community at large of the value of guitar education in our schools.

Guitar 3 Earns Superior Rating at Fiesta-Val

Congratulations to the Guitar 3 Ensemble, who earned a Superior Rating with a score of 95.25 at the Fiesta-Val Adjudication in Virginia Beach on April 17, 2009.
Congratulations are also due to Tim Crites, who received an Outstanding Soloist Award.
Bravo to each member of the ensemble for their excellence in musicianship and character, which made our Spring Trip '09 a memorable and rewarding experience for everyone!
